For my late spring menu for two for LINE, I made swordfish again. I’m totally in love with it, which is kind of too bad, since it ain’t cheap. And I grilled again, but this time I actually manned the grill myself. I know I told you I was going to leave that to the men in my life, but there was a fully grown man with me for dinner that night who had no clue how to use the grill so I decided it was time to do it myself. I’m an independent single woman, and I should know how to work my own grill. Turns out it’s not that hard, sparks flying close to my sundress and all, but my dinky old grill still has a hard time staying hot and thus takes forever to cook things. Oh well, more time to sit on the patio. My friend Michael and I like to play a little game when we have dinner together: I send him the full menu and he tries to bring the perfect bottle of wine. He usually wins, and he won again this time with Quivira Vineyards’ 2009 Grenache Rosé ($15). For more on the wine, and my full late spring menu including grilled fava beans and a brown rice salad, see here.
